1. Why is my Kohler kitchen faucet spray head not spraying?

Start with the cheapest thing: the spray face cover. Pop it off the end of the head and soak it in white vinegar. Hard water deposits and tiny grit love to collect behind the rubber cover. After a few minutes, use an old toothbrush and work the nozzle holes.

It's tempting to think the head is broken. In my callbacks, most weak-spray cases were debris. I count roughly eight out of ten. The others were an internal issue or a leak.

Actually, one more thing: make sure the water supply stops are fully open. Weird, but I've found half-closed shutoff valves under sinks more than a few times.

2. Why is my Kohler Devonshire faucet spray head leaking when the faucet is off?

Then do the hand and stone check: run your hand along the cut edge of the stone countertop hole under the sink. If it catches your skin, it can catch the hose. I've seen a granite edge cut through the outer sheath of a pull-down hose. The hose moved fine when dry, but once it was loaded with water, the cut opened and the hose leaked. A small grommet fixed it.

Also check the spray head itself: if the button is partially pressed, the hose might not retract because the head is pointed sideways and catching on the sink edge. That's one of those awkward calls.

4. Why is spray mode weak but stream mode fine?

Stream and spray are usually two different water paths in the head. If spray holes are clogged, spray suffers while stream still looks okay. Clean the spray face thoroughly, including the little holes around the button.

If that doesn't fix it, the problem may be in the faucet body. The diverter redirects water from the fixed stream to the spray. A sticking diverter can rob pressure. One trick: while the stream is running, press the spray button and hold it for a second, then release. Repeat a few times. If the spool is stuck, the cycling can free it. It's not a permanent fix, but it's diagnostic.

If you're dealing with a Kohler Devonshire faucet, the diverter assembly has a long plastic spool. I've seen that spool broken in half. That requires a genuine replacement part, not a universal one-size-fits-all kit.

5. Why does the spray head drip from the button?

The button on a pull-down spray head isn't just a switch, it also closes a water path. When it wears out or gets scale under it, water seeps out around the button.
